ILA has many files created and stored in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. This is a very popular format for distributing printable pages with text and graphics and is widely used in business and government (federal, state and local).
Adobe Acrobat Reader is FREE and available for your download from Adobe's web site.
Before downloading the Acrobat Reader, it is helpful to know there are two versions you can download. One option is a smaller version of the program, but the other option allows you to search viewed documents. This is especially helpful when viewing documents like the ILA's Landlord Telephone Directory. To download this option, you need to check the checkbox titled "Include the following options for your Acrobat Reader software:"
(If you thinks you have the search option on your installed version of Acrobat, you should see a set of binoculars in the Acrobat tool bar when viewing a PDF file.)
(To use the search option while in a PDF document, click on the T-text icon, then binoculars.
A dialog box will follow, type what you are searching for, then proceed.)
Downloading this option WILL take a while - especially if you have a dial-up connection (you may wish to do this overnight when you can start the download, then review the results in the morning). The full download is about 13mb. Most however find this option most helpful.
Below is a graphic depicting the selection box on their website. Please note that you need to choose the type of computer platform that is appropriate for your computer system. (Note the items we've highlighted in yellow ! )
