Iowa recently we will be discussing fire safety/new
smoke detector regulations and what to do if you do

The October Lunch & Learn will be held at Mama Lacona's, 2743
86th St, Urbandale on October 15th. The buffet lunch will start at
11:30 am and continue until 1 pm. Cost of the lunch buffet is $15.00 per
person. Our speaker will be Michelle Brant, Leasing Manager with
Professional Property Management. Michelle will be talking about
marketing rentals. She is a very interesting and talented speaker with a
deep background in our industry. Her topic is a must for all managers,

3rd Annual ILA Sizzle'n

August 19th, 7:30 AM at the Cub Club - Principal Park in
Des Moines. Our guest speaker, Ken Tharp with Iowa Equity
Exchange will inform us of the advantages of a tax differed exchange

Miniature Golf Outing
Thank you to all who attended the ILA miniature golf
outing at Longview Golf Centre.
Congratulations to all our winners. 1st place went to Steve Archer
of Factory Direct Appliance who was 3 under par. Steve received a
gift certificate to Okoboji Grill. 2nd place with a gift certificate
to The Library Cafe was Mary Knueven. We had a tie for 3rd place
with Rena Merritt of Jacobs Place Apts. and Dick Baskerville
receiving gift cards to Quik Trip.After our 18 holes of golf we were
treated to a hotdog supper. A special thank you to the Longview
Centre staff for manning the grill.
Additional random drawings were held and the gift winners were Beth
McDonald with the Des Moines Register, Kayla Lehs and Lucas Archer.
We look forward to another successful miniature golf outing next
year! |

Monthly General
Membership Meeting
Thursday, January 31,
2008 at 4:00 pm - Hosted by the Des Moines Register
at their Printing Facility, 7400 Register Drive, Des Moines.
Members will receive an ILA update and help us plan for the
Spring Seminar. We will talk about the upcoming election of
Association Officers. ILA Information and Membership
Directories will be available for members who do not already
have theirs. Discussion will include ILA's
participation in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's
Walk For The Cure, and how you can join the team. You will
also be able to tour the Des Moines Register printing
plant. |

2007 ILA Fall
Seminar
Another great Fall Seminar! Thank you
all for attending. An informative
seminar covering a wide range of topics that
landlords and rental property managers see
on a daily basis. Thanks to the
knowledgeable speakers for their insights
and perspectives. Special thanks to
the participating vendors who were at the
Seminar.
2007 ILA 2nd
Annual Golf Outing
ILA held it 2nd Annual Golf Outing on
September 27th, at the Waveland Golf Course
in Des Moines. The winning foursome:
Bruce Kalisek, John Burchett, Gordon Kratz
and Steve Helm. Steve Helm and Tim
Huff won "Closest to the pin" cash awards.
A great time was had by all, and we look
forward to the Third Annual Golf Outing in
2008.
2007 ILA's
Breakfast Meetings
Over the past
Summer, we have hosted monthly breakfast
meetings at the Cub Club, Sec Taylor
Stadium. Now that the season has
ended, we turn our attention to Fall
functions, and look forward to the Fall
Seminar. We thank all of our members
for participating in the breakfast meetings,
and plan to resume in the Spring of 2008.

2nd Annual
Family Picnic
The ILA Family Picnic was August 5th at
Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines.
Members had a great time. There was
plenty of food, beverages, games, and a lot
of good conversation. Special thanks
to the vendors who supplied beverages,
prizes, and helped with picnic activities.

Membership Meeting
The Des Moines Register hosted a General
Membership Meeting at its Printing Facility
July 26th
Members received an ILA update and a
tour of the Des Moines Register printing
plant.
